Labor day song
It’s Labor Day weekend, so here’s a repost of one of my favorite labor songs, penned by my old Kennett Brothers bandmate Ryan Jerving. The song is ‘Surplus Labor’, and describes one of the fundamental principles of a market-based economy. Infotaining.
Surplus Labor (MP3)
The personnel, as best I can remember it:
- Ed Burch: acoustic guitar, vocals
- Ryan Jerving: electric guitar, vocals
- Kenneth P.W. Rainey: mandolin, dobro, and bass
- Sean Fogarty: drums

Are you sure it isn’t either Broach or Bennett on bass? Honestly, I have no idea. But I do know that Sean’s name is spelled “Fogarty”. See ya soon.

Thanks for correcting my spelling of Sean’s name. I updated the post accordingly.
I’m quite sure that it’s me on bass, for better or worse. That was done with my goofy Charvel ’surfcaster’ bass, which I still have lying around.
