Leo Kottke plays Pamela Brown
There’s some very nice 12-string slide playing in this 1982 clip of Leo Kottke. Also, for a guy who once described his voice as sounding like ‘goose farts on a muggy day’, he sings pretty well, too.

Nice post, Kip. Reminds me of a nice little story: Mike Gordon, the bass player from Vermont jam-band Phish, was a big Leo Kottke fan. In the wake of Phish’s retirement a few years ago, Mike recorded a bunch of basslines onto a Leo Kottke solo album and mailed it to Leo courtesy of his label, along with a letter saying what a big fan he was. Kottke is famous for playing alone and not really wanting to deal with partners/bandmates, so Gordon never expected to hear back. Then Leo got hold of the tape, liked what Gordon had done, invited him down to do a little pickin’, and lo and behold they made a record together and have done a few tours.
