We’re on the ground in Kansas or Missouri, on our way to Wakarusa. Our flight in was pretty uneventful, as smooth an uneventful as getting five musicians to O’Hare and on an early flight can be. Chris Wood and his brother Oliver were on our flight, and they’re also on their way to Wakarusa, to play a set as the Wood Brothers and then as Medeski, Martin, and Wood.
We pulled into Chicago last night about midnight, and were back at the airport by 6:45. I fell asleep on the plane and dreamed about riding in the van. Quite possibly the most boring dream ever.
Our trip to Wisconsin to play the Bill Jorgensen Memorial Bluegrass Festival was great. We played sets on the main stage Friday and Saturday. All the folks up there were very kind, and the audience response was great. All the other bands were great. There was a family band there called the Texas String Band, with two kids who played some jaw-dropping solos.
