Clarence and Roland White on the Andy Griffith show
Here’s a clip of the Country Boys/ Kentucky Colnels playing with Andy Griffith on his eponymous show. It’s remarkable how young they are. They would wind up doing great things with other groups: Clarence would, of course, go on to join the Byrds, Roland would play with Bill Monroe, and Earl Scruggs, Billy Ray Lathum would replace Doug Dillard in the Dillards. It’s great to see them all together here, playing the old standard ‘Whoa Mule’:

NEW INFO ON BILLY RAY LATHUM: In November 2004 the Cops were chasing a illegal
Mexican in Nashville TN. he whipped into the left lane and hit Billy Ray head on at 90
mph. Billy almost died at the scene. It broke both his legs, his right knee and femur, his
left hip, both his arms, and a head injury. Billy was in a coma for a weak and was in the
hospital for almost 6 mo’s. Billy has been in rehab and is learning to play again. it will
come though. It has been tough both physically and financially, but he will tough it out.

How is Billy dong as of now? He had dis-ownd his daughter Kristina when she was younger, because of my grandmother Vonda… I would like to contact him just to know my Grandfather….
