Back to the studio

We’re heading back in to the studio for the first time since we recorded our little record almost a year ago. We’ll be working with Mike Hagler at King Size in Chicago. Mike is an excellent engineer who has worked with a whole mess of bands that we like. He also mastered our debut CD .

We’ll be recording three or four new songs. Whereas our first record was recorded like a vintage field recording, these songs will be multitracked in a modern recording studio. More info and sound clips to follow.

By Kenneth Rainey. Filed under: GigBlog, TweedBlog.

We’ll be playing a short set at the Old Town School this coming Sunday (October 2nd) as part of a benefit for New Orleans musicians displaced by Hurricaine Katrina. The show starts at 6pm, and advance tickets are $15. It’s likely to sell out, so you may want to pick up tickets early.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) @ the Hideout

By Kenneth Rainey. Filed under: GigBlog, TweedBlog.

Howdy folks–

I’ll be playing a set with my buddy (and ex-Kennett Brothers bandmate) Edward Burch at the Hideout on Wednesday, September 21st. We’ve got a rocking little duo that we call Christian Debt Removal.

We’ll be joined by another ex-Kennett, John Peacock, who will be playing some tunes from his forthcoming record.

Come on by, have some $2 PBR, and hang out for a while.

Run for their Lives

By Kenneth Rainey. Filed under: OffTopic, TweedBlog.

Monkey I know it’s hard to think about dogs and cats with the epic human suffering that’s going on right now, but I’m participaing in an event to raise funds for a charity that is worthy of your support.

Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) runs animal adoption centers and spay/neuter clinics in Chicago. On October 2nd, I’ll be running in their annual 8K ‘Run for their Lives’ to raise funds to support PAWS in Chicago.

Our dog Monkey (pictured to verify cuteness) is a PAWS dog.

You can visit my fundraising page here.

You can learn more about PAWS Chicago on their website.
