Why radio sucks, continued…
New York Attorney General Eliot Spittzer’s office has released 59 pages of correspondence between Sony Music and radio stations. They confirm what most folks already know: payola is alive and well in American radio.
A sample:
Two weeks ago, it cost us over $4,000.00 to get Franz [Ferdinand] on WKSE[...]Yesterday I told Dave Universal that the cost was outrageous and we needed Good Charlotte to make up the costs[...]At the end of the day [he] added [Good Charlotte] and Gretchen Wilson, and hit Alex up for another grand and they settled for $750.00.
