Tangleweed on your radio

We’ll be appearing on WLUW’s program Live from the Heartland on Saturday, May 7th @ 9am. The show is a mix of political talk and entertainment hosted live from the Heartland Cafe in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. We’ll play some tunes from our fortcoming album Just a Spoonful, and Independent alderman Leon DesPres will be there to discuss his memior, Challenging the Daley Machine.

If you’re an early riser, you can watch the show live at the Heartland Cafe. Otherwise, you can pick up 88.7FM at at the left end of your radio dial, or hear the stream on WLUW’s website.

Song poems, part II: mining low-grade ore

I played the Hideout with Ed Burch again last evening, and we did a few more song poems from the excellent documentary Off the Charts. Finding good pop music has always been like mining low-grade ore, but this is especially the case with song poems. Most of them are virtually unlistenable, but the good ones are strangely compelling.
